The Beast Inside

Oh the horrors that one sees
That leave their mark for all eternity.
Experiences from long in the past
That have made scars that last and last.
Wounds that are impossible to see
That bring back sorrow and pain.

When those memories arise
You can see it in her eyes
The fight is plain as can be
For anyone who has eyes to see.

As she struggles to keep the beast inside
Try as she might, sometimes she loses the fight
And the beast is free to rage again.
The beast is mad and demands revenge
From those who did wrong to one so young.
Striking out at the host, with memories of fear.

She weeps and cries, hurting inside
Unable to seek help or explain why
Just curls up and hides
Until the beast subsides

Then goes about her business until the next fight.
Wondering if the world can see the fright
She tries to hide by prentending to be a Lady from times gone by.
Living in fear of the beast inside.
