I stood as a witness to a great debate
"How long?" they asked, "How long will he wait?"
The listeners are uneasy, The future is not set
Who can tell just what may happen yet
I stood as a witness to the fray
Lead by a valiant Knight
Who did try to sway
The would be King from his plans set for afar
Then entered the Noble KingArthur
His honor he had to defend
The battle raged on, without any witnesses at the end
I stood as a witness today
To the passing away of a King
His battle had been fought
His wounds were severe
His thoughts turned to his kingdom
For their good he must persevere
A most noble man, all would say
Even unto the end did he stay
An example of Chivalry, A man of might
Who gave up his kingdom and became a Black Knight
The new king has been named
His plans realized too soon
How will he stand? How will he lead?
Will the heart of the Black Knight ever mend?
I hope not to be here
To be a witness to another great fall
Perhaps my time will come before I get that call
And someone else can stand as a witness to it all.
